Job Description

Responsibilities

Develop and execute PR strategies aligned with Athena’s business and growth goals
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, analysts, podcasters, and industry publications
Identify and pitch compelling stories to relevant technology, security, healthcare, business, and trade media
Write and distribute press releases, media pitches, executive talking points, and other PR materials
Develop opportunities for executive thought leadership, including interviews, podcasts, articles, speaking engagements, and industry events
Help position Athena executives and subject-matter experts as industry voices
Coordinate media interviews and prepare executives for press conversations
Identify opportunities around product launches, company milestones, customer stories, partnerships, and industry trends
Monitor media coverage and provide regular reporting on PR activity and results
Work with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging across external communications

Requirements

5+ years of experience in PR, communications, media relations, or a related field
Proven experience securing earned media coverage , not just distributing press releases
Strong existing relationships with journalists and media outlets
Excellent writing, editing, pitching, and storytelling skills
Experience with B2B, technology, cybersecurity, physical security, AI, healthcare, or a related industry is strongly preferred
Ability to understand technical products and turn complex information into clear, compelling stories
Experience supporting executive thought leadership and media appearances
Strong organizational and project management skills
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
Strong English communication skills

Preferred

A track record of securing coverage in recognized technology, business, security, or industry publications
Experience getting executives booked for podcasts, interviews, speaking opportunities, or contributed articles
Existing relationships with relevant reporters and editors
Experience working with a technology startup or rapidly growing company
Experience with PR platforms such as Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater, or similar tools
Experience using AI tools for research, media monitoring, and PR workflow
Experience creating thought-leadership campaigns rather than simply handling press releases
