Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Media Relations
  • Draft and distribute press releases and media pitches using Meltwater
  • Monitor inbound media inquiries and work with Communications Director and other key staff to coordinate timely responses and interviews
  • Coordinate and schedule briefings with members of the media and Lincoln Institute staff, and staff interviews when possible
  • Collaboratively develop organization-wide media policy
  • Stakeholder Outreach
  • Oversee outreach to key audiences as part of publication launches, events, and announcements
  • Build event and project-specific audience lists with contact information and other key details, and update lists to indicate levels of engagement throughout the course of a project or event
  • Draft and distribute outreach messaging via Outlook mail merge and other channels
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders and answer inquiries and/or requests for more information as needed

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of professional work experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Outstanding written communication, and editing skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of media relations and ability to communicate with external stakeholders and partners
  • Experience using Asana and Meltwater or similar project management and public relations tools
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to work independently and with teams.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, and judgement.
  • Strong willingness to learn and demonstrated ability to learn new concepts, systems, and processes
  • Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, etc.)
