Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $43.27 hourly / $89,939.20 annually.

- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- One year experience as a public safety dispatcher.
- Obtain and maintain an Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) certification. Training is provided on duty and certification testing is completed within first six months of hire.
- Obtain and maintain APCO CTO Certification within 120 days of hire.
- Pass a one-year probationary period.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
- Performs all essential functions and responsibilities of a Police Communications Dispatcher.
- Participates in the training of new dispatchers. Reviews and check the trainee’s work to ensure conformance to established standards. Keeps detailed daily records of trainee’s progress.
- Assigns, schedules, and monitors performance of employees including the training, planning, coaching and mentoring of employees.
- Present to internal and external groups as part of the Communications Outreach Team.
- Completes Public Records Requests.
- Completes all assigned dispatcher trainings.
- Assuming temporary responsibility in the absence of a supervisor as needed.
- Completes other administrative tasks as assigned.
- Work is performed in a Police Communications Center environment.
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Wear headset.
- Operate foot pedals or other adaptable controls on radio console.
- Carry light objects for short distances.
- Visual and muscular dexterity to operate communications equipment (computer-aided dispatch equipment, telephones and radios).
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Work overtime as required.
- Work a variety of scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Education
