Overview:
The Philanthropy Coordinator provides essential administrative, operational, financial and strategic support to the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines Foundation. This role ensures seamless coordination across donor engagement initiatives, financial management, and philanthropic operations. Serving as a liaison between local fundraising teams and the UnityPoint Health – Center for Philanthropic Excellence (CPE), this position ensures the effective use of data systems and operations strategies to advance the Foundation’s mission.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs financial support, basic accounting and bookkeeping for the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines Foundation, in collaboration with the CPE, in support of the fundraising efforts, events and operations of the Foundation as well as the Gift Shops/Not New Shop and Iowa Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary, including cash deposits, monthly reports, accounts payable, bank account reconciliations, payroll deductions, gift in-kind donations and online donation systems.
  • Manages donation receipting cycle through data entry of gift details, submission of batches, follow-up of donation details, and printing/mailing of receipt letters.
  • Provides financial support for special events – tracking of sponsorships, tickets, in-kind donations, auction item donations, etc. Lead event payment needs – cash boxes, credit card processing, donation collection, etc.
  • Tracks gift commitments and assist with ensuring timely acknowledgment and recognition of donors.
  • Provides administrative and process improvement support through documentation, data analysis, reports and visualization tools.
  • Manages calendars and project deadlines for fundraising initiatives and campaigns
  • Key point of contact between the Foundation team and CPE’s Accounting and Database teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration on key initiatives.
  • Supports accurate and timely updates to donor records, prospect plans, proposals, and contact reports in the donor database (CRM), maintaining data integrity and usability.
  • Generates targeted donor lists and/or customized reports to support prospecting efforts and strategy discussions
Qualifications:
Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 2 years accounting, non-profit, administrative experience required. Strong Excel skills required.
