Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Photography & Videography: Capture compelling photos and videos of community engagement activities, events, and programs.
  • Video Editing: Edit short-form videos using Adobe Premiere for social media, newsletters, and promotional use.
  • Graphic Design: Design marketing materials using Canva templates to maintain brand consistency.
  • Social Media Management: Assist in creating and scheduling content for social media platforms, ensuring engaging and relevant posts.
  • Content Creation: Assist in developing engaging digital content for social media, newsletters, and web platforms.
  • On-Site Engagement: Interact professionally with community members, students, and staff while documenting events.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with organizing digital assets, updating content, and other communications tasks.

Requirements

  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Self-motivated, strategic, creative, entrepreneurial, and energetic
  • Flexibility and willingness to perform a wide range of tasks as necessary
  • Problem-solving skills using sound judgment and professional discretion
  • Strong work ethic and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred

  • Knowledge of VCU policies and procedures related to communication
  • Previous experience working with activities related to community engagement and community-based activities
  • Comfortable and confident working with community members in various settings.
  • Willing and comfortable capturing photographs and videos of people and community members in an engaging and respectful way.
  • Experience in photography, videography, and video editing using Adobe Creative Suite..
  • Strong design skills with familiarity in Canva.
  • Experience managing social media content (Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, etc.).
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to balance multiple projects.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and creative with strong communication skills.
