Job Description
Paid research: $250 for 30 minutes with lawyers at firms of 50–100 attorneys
We are a studio-backed company of PatentVC, co-founded by an early Otter.ai engineer and a Stanford Ph.D AI researcher.
AI notetakers have a design problem. Tools like Otter and Granola capture the room first and deal with permissions afterward, if at all - one joins visibly and records everyone regardless of whether they agreed, the other listens quietly from a laptop so the other people in the meeting may never be told at all. Neither can show you afterward what it kept and what it destroyed. Consolidated privacy class actions are now working through federal court on exactly that architecture, and those are allegations rather than findings, but the pattern in the complaints is consistent: people did not know, people could not stop it, and more was kept than the moment required.
We're building the opposite. Our notetaker asks each person before it records them, transcribes only the people who said yes, discards the rest before anything is written to disk, and produces a record of what it did. Before we build more of it, we want to be told what's wrong with it by the people who would actually carry the risk. We also want to know something more direct: if this existed, would you pay for it, and how much?
Who we need: attorneys, legal ops leaders, or firm administrators at practices with roughly 50 to 100 lawyers. That size specifically - large enough to have real client confidentiality obligations and a technology budget, small enough that one or two people decide what the firm uses. Litigators and privacy practitioners especially welcome.
The call: 30 minutes, video. We show you the two-page sample record our product plans on generating, and ask four questions:
— Is this record worth anything to you?
— Would your firm pay for it?
— What would you actually pay, per lawyer per month or per firm per year?
No demo, no pitch, no follow-up sales sequence.
The terms: $250 paid within 24 hours, or the same amount to a charity of your choice if your firm's policy prefers that. Paid regardless of what you tell us — including "we would never buy this," and including a number far lower than we hoped for.
What we don't want: client confidences, anything about a live matter, or your firm's internal deliberations. Your professional judgment only.
Interested? Apply here, or email matt@cull.ai with your role, firm size, and jurisdiction. Booking a limited number through October. Or email Matt Ertosun · CEO, Cull.ai at matt@cull.ai
PatentVC, based in Mountain View, California, and Chennai, India, is a specialized venture capital fund focusing on equity investments in deep tech startups. These startups are distinguished by their innovative technologies that have the potential to define new market categories. A core requirement for our investments is that the funds must be allocated towards the development or monetization of robust patent portfolios. Our investment strategy primarily targets early-stage startups that demonstrate significant promise in technology innovation. Additionally, we also consider distressed asset recapitalizations, particularly for companies with a significant presence in Silicon Valley or India. Our aim is to foster groundbreaking technological advancements through strategic financial support.
