Job Description

Paid Brainstorm for Patent Attorneys and Patent Agents: AI-First Thinkers in Generic & Biosimilar Patent Strategy

$150 for 45 minutes (or state your rate when applying)· Video call · No preparation required · Patent VC (Sand Hill Road)

Who this is for: You must be a registered patent attorney or patent agent, currently or recently in-house at a generic or biosimilar pharmaceutical company. If that's not you, this post isn't for you, but feel free to share it with someone it fits.

What this is

Patent VC, a Sand Hill Road co-investment vehicle behind Trademarkia, is exploring what to build at the intersection of AI and generic/biosimilar patent strategy. Before we build, we want to brainstorm with the most creative, AI-forward practitioners in the space, and we're paying for it: $150 for a single 45-minute video call.

This is not a survey of average users, and it is not a sales call. We are looking for the small number of patent attorneys and patent agents who are genuinely AI-first in how they work and who have strong opinions about what should exist. No preparation, no follow-up obligation, no confidential information requested. General workflow and ideas only, never your company's specific matters, strategies, or privileged material.

The conversation

The question at the center:

How can AI help generic and biosimilar companies succeed, and what software do you wish existed that Claude and today's AI models cannot do?

We want your ideas across the whole playbook, for example:

  • Getting to market faster: where AI could compress the timeline from target selection to launch, including thicket analysis, FTO triage, design-around exploration, and regulatory-patent interplay
  • Challenge-or-pass decisions: how AI could help decide which Orange Book or BPCIA patents are actually worth attacking, and which fights to walk away from
  • First-filer economics: ideas for winning the races that matter, like 180-day exclusivity, PGR windows, and timing strategy
  • Outside counsel leverage: what you'd automate or pre-digest in-house so your litigation budget goes further
  • What you've actually tried: where Claude, ChatGPT, or legal-tech products helped in your patent work, where they embarrassed themselves, and what that taught you about the real gap
  • Your unbuilt ideas: the tools you've sketched on a whiteboard, pitched internally, or wished a vendor would show up with. Half-formed is fine. Contrarian is better.

You bring the ideas; we bring a practicing patent attorney and a build team that can turn the best ones into working software fast.

Who we're looking for
  • A patent attorney or patent agent (USPTO registration required) currently or recently in-house at a generic or biosimilar pharmaceutical company
  • Hands-on involvement in patent landscape, FTO, invalidity, or Paragraph IV / BPCIA work
  • AI-first by temperament: you've personally used Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools on real patent tasks. You don't need convincing that AI matters, and you have opinions about where it falls short
  • Idea-rich: colleagues would describe you as the person who's always suggesting a better way to do things
  • Willing to think out loud candidly at a general level; no company-specific or privileged information wanted or accepted

We're scheduling a small number of these calls and selecting for creativity, not seniority. A sharp patent agent with ten ideas beats a chief counsel with none.

Logistics
  • Format: 45-minute video call (Zoom or Google Meet), scheduled at your convenience, including early morning or evening slots
  • Compensation: $150, paid promptly after the call (your choice of payment method)
  • Confidentiality: We're happy to keep your participation confidential; nothing you share will be attributed to you or your employer
To participate
  • Reply here, DM, or email with two or three lines: whether you're a patent attorney or patent agent, your company type (biosimilar / generic / branded), and one idea. A single sentence on something AI should be doing for generic or biosimilar patent teams that nothing today does. The idea is how we pick.
