The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Services and is responsible for personnel, fiscal policies and procedures relating to clinical experiences. This position has an Instructor appointment within the Department of Teacher Education Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in education or other relevant area by the time of application; Minimum three years of successful teaching experience in P-12 schools; Experience working with pre-service or in-service teachers; Experience working with diverse sets of students; Knowledge of effective teaching practices, methods, and techniques; Evidence of strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Extensive knowledge of current state and national standards for the teaching profession, especially those pertaining to clinical experiences Recent experience in P-12 schools; Teaching experience in higher education; Leadership, administrative, or supervisory experience in P-12 schools or other organizations; Experience serving as a clinical or field experiences supervisor, cooperating teacher, or mentor; Demonstrated professionalism and strong interpersonal skills that enhance the interaction between clinical experiences office and the internal and external constituencies it serves. Familiarity with accreditation processes, such as CAEP, etc. Essential Functions And Percent Of Time 30% - Leadership of Partnerships and Field Experiences office Provide strategic leadership for Clinical Experiences in alignment with the College of Health, Education, and Human Services mission, vision, and goals. Direct daily operations to ensure high-quality service for internal and external stakeholders. Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and support professional and student staff. Collaborate with the Assistant Director on partnership initiatives and events. Systematically assess Clinical Experiences performance against goals and relevant standards; track results over time; test innovations; and use results to improve Clinical Experiences office processes. In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, gather and analyze Clinical Experiences data and write responses for annual reports to the Ohio Department of Higher Education, Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, federal government, and other external agencies. Monitor changes in state and national policies, regulations, and legislation impacting clinical and field experiences and communicate updates to supervisors, faculty, and school/organization personnel . Represent the university at state and national forums, committees, and professional conferences. Oversee communications and publications (including website, social media, print publications). Manage clinical affiliation agreements, records, National WebCheck Services Agreement, and Marketplace usage for CHEH. 30% - Design of Clinical and Field Experiences Work collaboratively with educator preparation program directors, Lake Campus personnel, and school partners to design clinical and field experiences that comply with state and national standards and that are of sufficient depth, breadth, diversity, coherence, and duration to ensure that candidates demonstrate their developing effectiveness and positive impact on P-12 students' learning and development. Ensure that clinical and field experiences, including technology-enhanced learning opportunities, have multiple performance-based, valid, and reliable assessments at key points within the program to demonstrate candidates' development of the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions, as delineated in national and state standards, that are associated with a positive impact on the learning and development of all P-12 students. Serve as the instructor of record for all clinical and field experience courses Develop and maintain syllabi aligned with institutional, state, and national standards. Guide candidates through registration and communicate expectations for clinical coursework. Monitor candidate attendance and performance; provide ongoing formative feedback. Manage student teaching and substitute teaching agreements. Fulfill instructional duties in accordance with university policies and procedures. Essential Functions And Percent Of Time (cont'd) 30% - Coordination of Clinical and Field Placements Oversee placement of approximately 200-300 candidates per semester in Dayton-area schools. Build and sustain positive partnerships with P-12 schools to ensure sufficient, mutually-beneficial, high-quality, and sustainable placements. Coordinate with program directors and faculty to align placements with program and school needs. Communicate the expectations of teacher candidate placements with P-12 school administrators, P-12 teachers, teacher candidates, and Lake Campus personnel. Address placement concerns through consultation, intervention planning, and facilitated conferences. Develop efficient, user-friendly placement processes and ensure accuracy of all related technologies and systems. Create and manage semester calendars, timelines, and schedules. Deliver candidate orientations and professional readiness workshops. Recruit, train, support, and evaluate university supervisors and cooperating teachers to ensure high-quality supervision and mentoring. Serve as edTPA Coordinator for CHEH. Serve as Licensure Officer for CHEH, including application review, out-of-state verifications, and Rapback Authorized User responsibilities. 10% - Other duties as directed Non-Essential Functions And Percent Of Time Working Conditions Standard office environment, requires ability to travel to meetings/conferences, etc. May require evening or weekend hours for events.
