Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead our social media presence.
  • You'll manage the day-to-day social media operation for the agency, from developing and scheduling posts to monitoring engagement and identifying new opportunities. You'll help turn marketing priorities into content that feels authentic, timely and relevant to our audiences.
  • Create content people want to see.
  • You'll write, photograph, film and edit content for social media, websites, newsletters and other digital platforms. You'll take complex or routine information and find the story that makes people want to stop, read or learn more.
  • Tell stories through photos and videos.
  • You'll capture the people, places, wildlife, activities and experiences that make North Dakota's parks special. You'll edit photos and short-form videos and help build a library of visual content the agency can use across channels.
  • Keep our digital channels fresh.
  • You'll create and maintain content for department websites and other digital platforms, including our mobile app, reservation system and online store. You'll work with staff and partners to keep information accurate, useful and consistent.
  • Help parks tell their own stories.
  • You'll support park staff who manage social media by providing training, resources and guidance. You'll also work with staff across the agency to identify great stories and collect content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, digital media or a related field and two years of related work experience; or
  • Associate's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, digital media or a related field and four years of related work experience.
  • Experience creating, managing and publishing social media content.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Demostrated experience creating digital content, including photography, video and other multimedia.
  • Demostrated ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a variety of people and teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Applicants must provide a digital portfolio or a minimum of five relevant work samples demonstrating skills in writing, social media, photography, videography or digital content creation.
