The Media Services Technical Specialist reports to the Media Services Coordinator. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, operation, and installation of all A/V and media equipment owned by the college.  In addition, the position provides technical support to students, faculty, staff, and administrators in the use of A/V and media equipment. It assists the Educational Television and Video Production staff with television and satellite facilities and functions.

Responsibilities
Maintain, install, operate, repair, schedule, and distribute A/V and media equipment and systems across all college locations, including lighting and audio systems.

Maintain accurate inventories of equipment replacement parts, service manuals, and operational documentation, including the media equipment inventory database.

Provide technical support for all college functions, departmental needs, and college-sponsored and external rental events, including troubleshooting and resolving media, lighting, and audio system issues.

Train and assist faculty, staff, administrators, and students, and support part-time media technicians with troubleshooting and technical problem resolution for the use of media equipment and facilities.

Operate and maintain a server-based media console system that monitors all media control devices and endpoints. Program or reprogram touch control systems as appropriate in cases of redesign or malfunction.

Assist with the production of instructional media in the multimedia production center.

Develop multimedia system designs and technical specifications for Requests for Proposals. Review and evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical recommendations for vendor selection.

Document all A/V and media-related problem resolution in the knowledge base and maintain current technical and operational resources.

Support the Media Services Coordinator with departmental operations and assume responsibility for the department in the coordinator’s absence.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in related field required.Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum of three years’ experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of A/V, media and electronic equipment required.

Excellent computer skills.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Good interpersonal and organizational skills necessary. Ability to interact with all levels of management, faculty, staff, and students is necessary.
