Job Description

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, pitch and manage comprehensive local, regional and national media coverage and media relations activities for the hospitals, clinics and service lines.
Develop and drive proactive media campaigns that align with Emory Healthcare’s strategic goals and values.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the health care system and its service lines, and integrate insights into strategic planning around institutional priorities, which include excellence in patient care, research breakthroughs and innovation.
Cultivate strong working relationships with local, regional and national news media to promote positive storytelling and messaging to targeted audiences.
Provide media training to physicians, staff and leaders to instill confidence in on-camera presence for interviews and other speaking engagements.
Write, edit and distribute press releases, pitches, media advisories and other content for media.
Collaborate with in-house multimedia video and photography team to advance storytelling and support high-priority events and strategic initiatives.
Coordinate and supervise on-site media and production company shoots—including interviews, b-roll and photography—to ensure minimal disruption to clinical activities.
Frequently monitor local, regional and national news media content, news cycles and health care trends.
Maintain familiarity with various media outlets locally, regionally and nationally to keep abreast of trends and market data.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a marketing/communications discipline, such as journalism, mass communications, English, public relations, marketing, political science or a related field.
Experience: Minimum six (6) years of experience working in journalism, communications, marketing, media relations, public relations or crisis management.
Demonstrated success in managing and coordinating news media campaigns.
Experience should include media interview skills, story development, pitching, news writing and overall content creation.
Candidate must have a strong understanding of how news media organizations operate.
Preferred Experience: The ideal candidate has strong experience working in the media/journalism and in media relations/public relations/communications or another similar role.
