Job Description
Responsibilities
- The Manager, Social Media and Audience Engagement, is responsible for supporting the development, execution, and optimization of EEI’s digital content strategy to help advance the organization’s public policy, member engagement, thought leadership, and reputation-building goals.
- This individual creates and curates compelling digital content across platforms—including EEI’s website, social media channels, email campaigns, and multimedia products—to drive engagement and deliver consistent messaging to key audiences.
- Reporting to the Managing Director, External Communications, the Manager works closely with the Senior Director of Digital Content on cross-functional planning to ensure that digital communications are timely, strategic, and aligned with EEI’s brand, voice, and policy priorities.
- Develop and Implement Digital Content Strategy: Lead the creation and implementation of EEI’s digital content plans, amplifying key messages, promoting industry initiatives, and supporting EEI’s advocacy efforts that all align with EEI’s core communications pillars.
- Ensure digital content aligns with communications campaigns, editorial calendars, and organizational goals.
- Curate Engaged Audiences: Maximize the usage of content from print publications, speeches, events, news articles, and external engagements for digital audiences.
- Collaborate with writers, designers, and subject matter experts to produce clear, engaging, and audience-specific materials.
- Manage Social Media Presence: Oversee EEI’s day-to-day social media operations and content calendar. Develop and schedule posts, carefully track EEI mentions, and monitor trends to maximize reach and impact. Develop graphics and multimedia content in coordination with Senior Director of Digital Content.
- Track Digital Performance and Optimize Engagement: Monitor performance of digital content using analytics tools. Provide regular reports on engagement metrics, web traffic, and social media impact. Use data to make informed decisions, improve strategy, and expand reach to key audiences.
- Support Efforts to Identify and Implement New Use Cases for AI Tools Stay current on emerging AI tools and trends and work across the Communications team to find opportunities to enhance and streamline functions.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is required.
- 6-8 years of experience managing content across platforms including websites, social media, and email marketing tools.
- Experience using audience and performance insights to inform creative and content development across organic and paid digital channels.
- Excellent writing, editing, and content development skills for digital platforms.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365, content management systems, email marketing platforms, and social media scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite).
- Strong grasp of SEO, web analytics (e.g., Google Analytics), and performance metrics.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail.
- Creative, collaborative, and proactive problem-solver with an eye for storytelling and audience engagement.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally, including interviewing executives and other industry leaders on camera.
- Occasional travel required for EEI-hosted events, industry conferences, media opportunities, and other external engagements. Approximately 8%.
Preferred
- Certification in digital marketing, content strategy, or analytics is a plus.
- Relevant experience in policy communications and with energy issues is preferred.
Benefits
- The salary range for this role is $80,000 – $125,000. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications. The role is eligible for a performance based annual bonus.
