Louisville Tourism | Part-Time Paid Internship

Louisville Tourism’s mission is to enhance Louisville’s economy through tourism by positioning and selling our community worldwide as a premier destination for conventions, meetings, group tours, and leisure travel. We work closely with local businesses and community partners to create memorable visitor experiences and support a thriving hospitality industry.

Summary

The Services Intern will work within the Destination Services Department and support the Services team on both event-based programs and daily operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in destination marketing, event operations, and hospitality engagement while providing exposure to the day-to-day workings of a destination marketing organization (DMO). This role is ideal for a student interested in tourism, hospitality, event management, marketing, or community engagement who is eager to learn, highly organized, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.The work schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday with work hours occurring between 9:00am-5:00pm, or as otherwise agreed, with no more than a total of 24 hours per week. For major events, weekend hours may be required. Pay is $14 per hour and parking is provided.

  • Support Destination Services during several major programs in Fall 2026:
  • Louder Than Life Music Festival – September 17 – 20, 2026
  • Bourbon & Beyond Music Festival – September 24 – 27, 2026
  • Equip Expo – October 20 – 23, 2026
  • National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals – December 9 – 12, 2026
  • Assist with materials and gift fulfillment
  • Assist with coordination and staffing at key City Information activations
  • Shadow managers during planning site visits, pre-con and other client meetings
  • Update vendor and key contacts in CRM as needed
  • Assist with inventory management

Skills & Experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, hospitable demeanor
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Comfort with data entry and maintaining accurate records
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to conduct basic internet research and format documents
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and industry concepts
  • Prior experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, along with demonstrated networking experience, is a plus

Other

  • Personal transportation needed for occasional errands and deliveries
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds required
