VISIT FLORIDA shares Florida sunshine with the world. As the state’s official tourism marketing organization, VISIT FLORIDA has been charged with selling an extraordinary vacation product since 1996.  As part of our Visitor Services team, we’re seeking a customer service focused individual to fill our Information Specialist position.
This position is located at our I-75 Welcome Center in Jennings, Florida.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Provide information and exceptional customer service to visitors of the Welcome Center.  Provide maps and mileage, as well as information about specific destinations, attractions, amenities, or activities.
  • Greet and provide refreshments to visitors at the citrus counter. Serve fresh Florida citrus juices as a welcome to the State of Florida.  Report daily usage and assist with juice and citrus orders.
  • Assist visitors in the lobby of the Center and the vending area.  Direct visitors to brochures for certain destinations or activities. Maintain awareness of Florida destinations, activities, accommodations, and natural and cultural heritage assets.
  • Plan and implement promotional events and activities related to themed months, working with industry representatives to carry out programs and promotions.  
  • Maintain supplies of brochures in assigned display racks. Monitor inventories of backup brochures, log utilization of brochures, and order replacement supplies.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the VISIT FLORIDA Welcome Center lobby and office area.  This will include mopping, sweeping, cleaning, emptying and taking out trash. 
The Florida Welcome Centers' hours of operation are 8 am to 5 pm, seven days a week.  This is a non-exempt 40 hour a week position with a weekend work rotation required.  Additional scheduling specifics with be discussed during the interview process.   
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 + years of equivalent work experience
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work a front-line counter
  • Team player with a flexible and positive attitude
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain national certification as a Florida Information Specialist
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs. regularly.  Ability to stand and walk throughout shift.
