Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Shape & Execute the National Narrative: Define and elevate the communication strategy for our peer-to-peer marketplace. Translate complex business dynamics, marketplace economics, and product levers into powerful consumer and corporate stories, pitching top-tier press personally to land critical features.
  • Support Next-Gen Search & LLM Visibility: Partner closely with our SEO and digital marketing teams, using strategic earned media placements to bolster Turo's presence, citations, and authority within AI search platforms, LLMs (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini), and conversational engines.
  • Digital Brand & Reputation Management: Proactively manage Turo’s online brand health across digital forums and modern search ecosystems, ensuring our public narrative remains accurate, positive, and aligned with corporate goals.
  • Modernize PR Workflows: Intelligently integrate native AI and digital efficiency tools into the PR team's daily processes to streamline research, optimize distribution, and scale output while remaining personally close to the tools.
  • Executive Positioning & Thought Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. Partner closely with C-suite executives to build their public profiles, craft executive communications, and elevate Turo's authoritative voice within the industry via strategic speaking engagements and thought-leadership platforms.
  • Set the Roadmap & Budget: Own the annual communications roadmap, resource allocation, and department-wide budget, taking full accountability for functional resilience and department-level ROI.
  • Lead, Coach & Do: Develop, coach, and mentor the communications team, identifying growth opportunities and building healthy succession plans for key roles. Maintain a hands-on approach by remaining an active practitioner who handles daily execution alongside the team.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Synergy: Foster seamless alignment and establish exceptionally high standards of collaboration across Marketing, Legal, Product, and Government Relations. Ensure regional product narratives and hyper-local supply/demand insights translate smoothly into unified corporate narratives

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive PR and communications experience in tech, marketplace, or hyper-growth consumer sectors
  • Hands-on leadership and ability to manage high-impact campaigns
  • Understanding of modern search landscapes, AI platforms, and digital ecosystems in relation to earned media
  • Ability to pivot rapidly in response to market dynamics and maintain reliability across public-facing channels
  • Sophisticated understanding of tech business models, marketplace liquidity, and macro levers affecting brand health
  • Established network of relationships with national business, tech, and consumer lifestyle journalists and influencers
  • Mentorship capability to lead by example and instill company values in daily storytelling
  • Experience using analytics frameworks to turn data into strategic insights and measure sentiment against business growth
