Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce a wide range of visual materials including, but not limited to: print collateral (brochures, postcards, invitations, reports); digital graphics (web banners, email graphics, social media assets, infographics); donor stewardship materials (impact reports, thank-you packages, proposals), campaign and event branding assets and signage.
  • Prepare final files for both digital and print production and ensure quality standards are met in adherence to university branding.
  • Interpret creative briefs and translate project goals into effective visual concepts. Collaborate with writers, editors, and account managers to develop engaging visual narratives that support storytelling and campaign messaging. Contribute to the visual identity of advancement campaigns and initiatives, including development of sub-brands when appropriate.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to institutional brand guidelines, tone, and accessibility standards. Maintain consistency across visual materials while adapting designs for a variety of formats and channels.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Advancement to understand project goals, audiences, and timelines. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and production requirements. Coordinate with print vendors or freelancers as needed to execute final deliverables.
  • Maintain organized archives of design files and templates for ongoing use and institutional recordkeeping. Support the development and ongoing refinement of design templates for email, web, and social media.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications or journalism with 3 years’ experience in graphic design, advertising, marketing, communications or a related field, to include experience in print and digital design (multimedia, email and web, as well as experience with the printing process/press checks and effective management of outside production vendors).
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant experience, education, and/or certification may be considered.
  • Must be aware of current trends in graphic design and proficient in Adobe Creative Suites including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Must work on Mac platform and have experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be well organized and able to work well under budgetary and deadline pressure, with the ability to anticipate and meet established deadlines.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents.

Preferred

  • More than 2 years’ experience in graphic design, advertising, marketing, communications or a related field, to include experience producing multimedia, email and web graphic design, as well as experience with the printing process/press checks and effective management of outside production vendors.
  • Ability to work in an agency-like setting, collaboratively, with other members of creative project management and production in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Knowledge of brand systems and developing design solutions within established brand guidelines.
  • Ability to integrate interactive and print design with an excellent sense of color, type, and contemporary style, while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Experience creating smart, compelling visual design that embraces a strong understanding of marketing and communications strategy.
  • Experience in motion design or video editing.
