Job Summary

- Own the end-to-end finance storytelling pipeline
- Drive data-informed insights and audience distribution
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Find the story in the work. Embed with Ramp Finance and gain the trust needed to see how the team actually operates. Turn planning meetings, closes, decisions, experiments, and customer conversations into ideas worth sharing with the wider finance world.
- Spend a large portion of your time writing. Develop first-person posts, points of view, customer stories, and other formats to be determined.
- Create original finance insights. Work with Ramp’s Finance team, customers, and Economics Lab to identify questions our data cannot answer. Then take that and turn CFO and finance-leader patterns into original research, surveys, practitioner-led analysis, and points of view that Ramp can own.
- Build the finance-storytelling system. Create a repeatable way to identify ideas, capture the raw material, develop drafts, and ship. Finance should not need to become a content team for Ramp to publish what it knows.
- Ramp's Proprietary Spend Data. Collaborate closely with the data and economics team to identify trends in the Ramp Spend Dataset that lead or support storytelling around trends in Business's finance stack and spend.
- Make customer stories do more. Partner with Customer Marketing, Sales, and Communications to find customers whose finance teams have something real to teach and help them teach it.
- Own the distribution engine. Build the audience plan for each piece: who needs to see it, where they already spend time, which voice should carry it, and how we know it worked.
- Set the bar for finance content. Decide what earns a finance leader’s attention and what does not.
Requirements
- You are an exceptional writer. You can make complicated financial or operational ideas clear without making them bland. You have strong reporting instincts and an opinion about structure.
- You understand finance. Ideally, you have covered or worked closely with CFOs, accounting, FP&A, corporate finance, treasury, payments, capital allocation, or the businesses that sell to finance teams. You know enough to ask good questions, hear the difference between a real insight and a polished answer, and keep learning.
- You are data literate. You can use AI and trusted data to explore a question, find a sharp metric, and turn it into a story or headline-making chart.
- You can write in someone else’s voice. You know the difference between writing about an executive and writing as one. You can preserve a leader’s point of view, rhythm, and convictions while making the work sharper.
- You move without a perfect brief. You can take rough notes and turn them into something strong.
- You are AI-native, but use personal judgement. You use AI to reduce busywork, explore angles, and move faster. But you don’t offload your brain to an LLM.
- You are based in New York City and want to work closely with a team in person. If you aren’t in NYC right now, we’ll cover your relocation.
