Position Summary
The Executive Director for Development and Letterwinner Engagement serves as the primary liaison between Troy University’s former and current student-athletes, fostering lifelong engagement, professional networking, and philanthropic support. This position is responsible for leading and revitalizing the T-Club Letterwinners Association, developing meaningful relationships with former student-athletes, cultivating donor prospects, and creating opportunities that connect letterwinners with current student-athletes. The position also serves as a Development Officer for the University, managing a portfolio of donor prospects and supporting the University’s fundraising objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Alumni and Letterwinner Engagement
The Executive Director for Development and Letterwinner Engagement serves as the primary liaison between Troy University’s former and current student-athletes, fostering lifelong engagement, professional networking, and philanthropic support. This position is responsible for leading and revitalizing the T-Club Letterwinners Association, developing meaningful relationships with former student-athletes, cultivating donor prospects, and creating opportunities that connect letterwinners with current student-athletes. The position also serves as a Development Officer for the University, managing a portfolio of donor prospects and supporting the University’s fundraising objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Alumni and Letterwinner Engagement
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the T-Club Letterwinners Association.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to revitalize and relaunch the T-Club Letterwinners Association, including the successful implementation of new initiatives and programming prior to the start of the fall athletic seasons.
- Establish and manage an annual membership program for the T-Club Letterwinners Association, including membership benefits and engagement opportunities. Develop a membership structure that aligns with the Troy University Alumni Association model and includes complimentary first-year membership for graduating Troy University student-athletes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for former student-athletes, maintaining strong relationships and encouraging active participation in University and Athletics initiatives.
- Organize and oversee sport-specific and multi-sport Letterwinner Reunions designed to reconnect former student-athletes with their teams, coaches, and the University.
Development and Fundraising
- Serve as a Development Officer for Troy University and maintain an assigned portfolio of donor prospects and supporters.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward former student-athletes and other constituents as potential donors to the University and Athletics programs.
- Develop strategies to increase philanthropic support from former letterwinners and strengthen their long-term engagement with Troy University.
- Collaborate with University Advancement and Athletics leadership to meet established fundraising goals and objectives.
Student-Athlete Career and Mentorship Initiatives
- Serve as a connector between former and current student-athletes by creating mentorship, networking, and engagement opportunities.
- Coordinate and participate in career fairs, networking events, and professional development programs designed to connect current student-athletes with T-Club members and other alumni.
- Facilitate meaningful relationships that support career exploration, internship opportunities, employment connections, and professional growth for current student-athletes.
Relationship Building and Strategic Outreach
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage former letterwinners across all sports and generations.
- Maintain accurate records of membership, engagement, event participation, and donor activity.
- Collaborate with coaches, Athletics staff, University Advancement, Career Services, and Alumni Affairs to enhance alumni engagement and support institutional priorities.
- Represent Troy University Athletics and the T-Club at University, community, and alumni events.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience in collegiate athletics or as a collegiate athlete.
- Familiarity with student-athlete development, career readiness programming, and alumni engagement best practices.
- Experience in alumni engagement/alumni relations, athletic administration, development, fundraising, donor relations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse constituencies and engage volunteers, alumni, and donors.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and event-planning skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
- Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
