Compensation: $125,000.00 - $135,000.00
Summary/Objective
The Director of Marketing will be responsible for managing all facets of the Academy and Academy Museum’s marketing initiatives and projects. Collaborating with creative, editorial, advancement, programming, communications, education, community and impact teams, among others, you will be responsible for creating cohesive strategies and implementation tactics to drive revenue, attendance, general awareness, and audience to the Academy and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Essential Functions Of The Job
  • Partner with SVP in creation of marketing plans and strategies that drive sales/revenue, attendance, engagement, and audience development.
  • Lead the marketing team in execution of marketing campaigns across all channels, paid and organic.
  • Oversee relationships with external marketing vendors and partners.
  • Create and maintain the marketing budget and advise the SVP on appropriate and diversified spending towards initiatives and projects.
  • Be a spokesperson on behalf of marketing priorities and projects to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the marketing department.
  • Execute audience development plans that drive national and international awareness and sales in addition to a reliable locals revenue stream.
  • Ensure alignment between Museum programming and product and audience development goals.
  • Oversee Group Sales business, establishing goals and ensuring KPIs are met.
  • Align and connect to audience development strategies.
  • Own regular reporting on campaign performance internally and externally, with KPI measurement, key insights, and learnings to drive following marketing plans.
  • Lead experiential activations in partnership with Brand Creative, Communications, and other key departments in the organization.
  • Partner with the IT team on the most effective tools and best practices for data collection and viewing.
  • Stay on top of industry trends and educate the marketing team on the most effective and current methods of achieving marketing goals.
  • Ensure cohesion and consistency in the presentation of the Academy’s businesses and brand.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a marketing team of approximately 6 team members, including a Marketing Manager and a cross-functional team.
Required Competencies:
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, film studies, or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant marketing experience with proven leadership skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing successful and effective marketing plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of advertising and paid media.
  • Proven expertise in data analytics and experience partnering with IT to develop best-in-class technology tools to support marketing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and proofreading skills.
  • Proven track record in building and managing budgets.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and operate effectively in a fast, high-pressure environment.
  • Experience building and nurturing healthy, informed, collaborative teams and team culture.

Its exhibitions and programs convey the magic of cinema and offer a glimpse behind the screen, illuminating the creative and collaborative process of filmmaking. Designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Renzo Piano, the Academy Museum will restore and revitalize the historic Saban Building—formerly an iconic May Company department store—at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. The Saban Building will feature six floors, including exhibition spaces, a 288-seat theater, an education studio, special event spaces, conservation areas, and a café and store. A new spherical addition will connect to the Saban Building with glass bridges and will feature a state-of-the-art 1,000-seat theater and a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the Hollywood Hills.
