Program Recruitment & Development

• Drive annual recruitment and enrollment initiatives for the Dyslexia Program in support ofNewberry College’s overall enrollment strategy.
• Partner with Admissions and Marketing to promote the Dyslexia Program to prospective students and families.
• Collaborate with area high schools, educational consultants, and community organizations to build awareness and recruit students.
• Represent the Dyslexia Program at recruitment events and outreach opportunities.

Instructional Leadership

• Collaborate with faculty and staff to design and implement instructional strategies grounded in multi-sensory, evidence-based methods.
• Deliver training and coaching on best practices for working with students with language-based learning differences.
• Collaborate with relevant departments to guide the selection, organization, and effective use of dyslexia-specific instructional tools and assistive technologies that align with student needs and campus systems.
• Maintain and provide access to student-facing tools and resources that support learning, such as reading strips, audio-supported materials, planners, and other assistive learning aids.
• Serve as a campus resource on dyslexia-informed pedagogy and inclusive learning practices- faculty resistance continues to be an issue.
• Supervise staff and student employees within the Dyslexia Program, including hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance support

Student Support & Transition

• Coordinate onboarding, advising, and orientation for students enrolled in the program.
• Provide ongoing academic coaching and individualized support to students in the Dyslexia Program to promote persistence, self-advocacy, and academic success.
• Develop and maintain detailed records of student progress, accommodation plans, and intervention strategies.
• Collaborate with Student Affairs and other campus partners to support holistic student development.
• Partner with Accessibility Services to ensure appropriate coordination and implementation of student accommodations.

Institutional Collaboration

• Serve as a liaison to campus offices on procedures, compliance, and policies related to dyslexia and accessibility.
• Contribute to campus-wide retention and student support initiatives as a member of the Center for Student Success team.

Grant and Program Administration

• Ensure compliance with all grant requirements related to the Dyslexia Program, including reporting, assessment, and documentation.
• Oversee the program’s operational budget and assist in planning for future funding needs.
• Coordinate with Institutional Advancement and the Assistant Dean for Student Success to support grant renewal efforts and explore opportunities for program growth.
• Provide program data, student outcomes, and narrative highlights, as appropriate, to support institutional reporting and grant communications.

Professional Development & Strategic Growth

• Engage in ongoing professional development related to dyslexia, specific learning disabilities (SLD), academic coaching, and student retention.
• Maintain awareness of current research, standards, and best practices through professional organizations such as the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), and related networks.
• Apply emerging insights to inform program strategy, coaching practices, and inclusive learning initiatives

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Minimum of five years of relevant teaching or training experience. Demonstrated expertise in dyslexia education, multi-sensory instructional methods, and academic accommodations

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Experience training educators in best practices for supporting students with learning differences. Familiarity with assistive technologies used to support students with dyslexia. Experience supporting students with ADHD or co-occurring learning needs.
