Role Description We are seeking an exceptional and highly experienced Director of Creative Technology to lead our interactive experiences practice. This leadership role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise, strategic oversight, and exceptional team management skills. You will be responsible for defining the technical vision and successful delivery of large-scale, immersive, and interactive installations, activations, and experiences for our high-profile clients in the enterprise, public and cultural spaces. This is a hands-on leadership position with 10+ years experience, that requires simultaneously managing multiple complex projects, resource planning, and extensive cross-functional collaboration. A significant amount of travel will be required for on-site installation oversight and client engagements. Responsibilities Technical & Strategic Leadership: Serve as the senior technical authority for all interactive projects, setting the standard for technical excellence, performance, and stability. Define and drive the technical roadmap, evaluating and integrating emerging technologies to keep our offerings cutting-edge. Oversee projects built primarily on a core tech stack including Unity, Unreal Engine, Touch Designer, and Web technologies. Provide expert guidance on system architecture, hardware specification, networking, and deployment strategies for complex, multi-sensor, and multi-display installations. Project Oversight & Delivery: Provide high-level oversight and technical direction across multiple, simultaneous high-stakes projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Lead technical resource management, planning, and allocation, ensuring the right talent is assigned to the right projects. Act as the final technical sign-off for proposals, SOWs, and technical specifications. Own the technical risk assessment and mitigation strategy for all interactive installations. Team and Resource Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Creative Technologists, Technical Directors, and contractors, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Manage and vet external vendors, integrators, and contractors, ensuring technical alignment and quality delivery. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication: Serve as the primary technical liaison, fostering seamless communication between Design, Production, Fabrication, AV Integration, and Client teams. Translate complex technical concepts and limitations into clear, strategic language for non-technical stakeholders and clients. Onsite Installation & Quality Assurance: Be willing and able to travel frequently (domestic and international) to client sites and venues to oversee critical stages of installation, integration, calibration, and final quality control. Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of experience in Software-based Creative Technology with a strong portfolio showcasing immersive, interactive, and large-scale activations. 5 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary creative technology teams, ideally within an agency, product organization, or technology-forward environment. Deep expertise and production experience in at least 2 of the following primary frameworks: Unity, Unreal Engine, Touch Designer, Web (e.g., Three.js, WebGL). Demonstrated excellence in strategic planning, organizational design, resource management, and senior leadership, with a track record of growing high-performing teams and technical capabilities. A diverse portfolio showcasing technical oversight of complex interactive experiences involving sensor input, data visualization, and real-time graphics. Proven ability for evaluating, adopting, and operationalizing emerging technologies at scale. Experience managing and directing external contractors, fabricators, and AV vendors for physical installations. Expertise in programming languages such as C#, C++, JavaScript, and familiarity with front-end frameworks (e.g., Vue, React). Strong hands-on experience with XR/Spatial Computing technologies and deployment. Solid understanding of deployment pipelines and collaboration with DevOps teams. Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to lead projects from conception to completion under tight deadlines. Experience with back-end technologies (e.g., Django, Node.js). Proactive, comfortable with ambiguity, and flexible in the face of shifting client needs. A passion for technology, culture, and building bespoke brand experiences. Agency or design studio experience required. Ability to work Eastern time zone hours. Willingness to travel, as needed (~ 35%) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Interactive Media, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience) preferred but not required.
