Job Description

Responsibilities

  • (1) Marketing & Communications (40%) Develop and maintain an annual marketing plan that coordinates fundraising campaigns, outreach and fundraising events, school outreach, program promotion, and other initiatives
  • Establish and amplify Sierra STEM’s brand, voice, and content strategy across digital/web, print, social media, email, presentations, and other public-facing channels
  • Create compelling print and digital campaigns and collateral that communicate Sierra STEM’s mission, programs, and impact through photos, videos, stories, and data
  • Implement a strategy for paid, earned, owned, and shared media, including identifying goals, platforms, audiences, messaging, and budgets, and use campaign data to improve results
  • Leverage Sierra STEM’s CRM database to identify meaningful audience segments, craft quarterly newsletters and other communications, and inform our communications strategy
  • (2) Partnerships & Development (40%) Facilitate growth of Sierra STEM’s visiting school programming portfolio in alignment with priorities established with the Executive Director, including identifying prospective schools throughout CA and North America and developing targeted outreach strategies and materials
  • Research new markets and revenue opportunities, working with the Executive Director to evaluate potential partnerships, funding opportunities, and other avenues for strategic growth
  • Spearhead strategy and execution for key fundraising efforts, such as donor campaigns, fundraising events, and our Community Sponsorship Program ( Friends of Sierra STEM )
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow Sierra STEM’s donor base and prospect pipeline and expand our network of individual, corporate, foundation, and community supporters
  • Support grant-writing and other fundraising efforts to help sustain and expand programming

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, business development, community engagement, or a related field
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent professional writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small team
  • Demonstrated ability to create polished marketing and communications materials across formats, including print and digital collateral, email newsletters, social media content, short-form video, and basic photo and video editing
  • Proficiency with digital marketing and communications tools, such as Canva and Meta Business Suite, along with the ability to quickly learn Sierra STEM’s website, email marketing, CRM (DonorPerfect), and other communications systems
  • Proficient with Google Workspace, including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Ability to support outreach and programs, which may require lifting up to 50 lbs and walking up to 2 miles over uneven terrain, with or without reasonable accommodation
