Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Messaging — In coordination with the CCO, develop DMFI’s core messaging architecture, ensuring consistency and clarity across all external communications.
  • Anticipate news cycles and political developments; create proactive messaging frameworks that position DMFI ahead of fast-moving stories.
  • Draft, edit, and disseminate written materials including talking points, memos, op-eds, statements, newsletters and backgrounders.

  • Craft and deploy rapid-turnaround materials for press, Hill, stakeholders and digital channels.
  • Work with DMFI’s development and policy departments and PAC to identify response opportunities and ensure message coordination across the organization.
  • Media Relations, Earned & Paid Media — Cultivate and maintain relationships with key reporters, editors, and media outlets covering U.S.-Israel policy, Democratic politics, and related beats.
  • Enhance DMFI’s earned media strategy: pitch stories, brief journalists, and identify opportunities to insert DMFI’s perspective into major news cycles.
  • Identify opportunities to protect and build DMFI’s brand and visibility using paid media.
  • Cross-Team Coordination — Collaborate closely with DMFI colleagues to ensure messaging strategy translates into effective content across email, social, and digital platforms.
  • Partner with political staff and consultants to align messaging with DMFI’s advocacy and electoral priorities.
  • Support other organizational communications needs as directed by the CCO.

  • Strong, versatile writing skills: you can shift from a press statement to a memo to a briefing document without losing your voice or your precision.
  • Savvy political and communications instincts — you understand what moves audiences on Capitol Hill, in the press, and within the Democratic political world.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Comfort being available and responsive during breaking news cycles, including evenings and weekends when major developments require it.
