Job Summary

Drive the alliance’s communications strategy and volunteer media teams to strengthen public presence in foreign policy advocacy.

  • Own media relations, press releases, and social content across a 300+ volunteer network.
  • Must-have: Proven media/communications strategy experience in non-profit or advocacy settings.
  • Standout: Leadership across cross-functional teams and policy advocacy familiarity.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing 300+ volunteers from both the Press and Social Media Teams
  • Working with the Press Secretary and Team to draft press releases
  • Drafting and publishing articles for A4AL’s Substack newsletter
  • Writing and editing a monthly Action Network newsletter
  • Managing media relations with various journalists, reporters, and writers
  • Developing and executing strategic communication initiatives
  • Fostering relationships with stakeholders (foreign relations organizations, colleges/universities, members of Congress, etc.) to enhance the organization’s public presence and reach
  • Working with the Social Media Director and Team to develop and schedule/post social media content

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in building a media/communications strategy (press releases, public/media relations, writing, and social media management), especially within foreign policy, non-profit, or advocacy settings
  • Strong Communication and Strategic Communications skills
  • Experience crafting and implementing comprehensive communication strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities
  • Familiarity with or experience in policy advocacy, foreign affairs, or non-profit organizations is a plus
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, or related field is a plus
