CliquePrize® is an iPhone mobile app that helps brick & mortar small businesses (“Sponsors”) grow through giveaways, interactive promotions, offers, coupons, and specials. We capture high-intent local leads (name, email, mobile, ZIP) through one-click giveaway entry and convert them into repeat customers for local businesses across major U.S. metro markets. This internship is designed for students seeking academic credit, real-world DevOps experience, API engineering experience, and production mobile SaaS exposure. This is a non-paid position but Academic Credit is available (if offered through your university). The DevOps / API Engineering Intern will help architect and build authentication systems, redirect APIs, webhook automations, and deep linking infrastructure that power CliquePrize’®s mobile app and website. This role sits at the intersection of: Backend API development iOS mobile integration Cloud infrastructure CMS publishing workflows Growth attribution systems Core Responsibilities 1. API Development & Redirect Logic Design and implement new backend APIs to support mobile growth, sponsor discovery, and redirect infrastructure. Required API Features: Build a vanity handle redirect system: Support /@handle-name Perform database lookup to confirm Sponsor exists If valid → deep link into the Sponsor Bullseye! screen inside the iPhone app If invalid → gracefully redirect to download or fallback page Create redirect APIs for: $29 Sponsor Offer screen (inside the iPhone mobile app) Universal app download routing Implement platform-aware routing: App installed → deep link to correct screen App not installed → App Store download Integrate with Zapier for Sponsor Data Download Integration into popular CRMs Log redirect events for debugging and analytics Handle edge cases (inactive sponsors, expired offers, malformed handles) Create dev, staging and prod API environments 2. Authentication & Security Build and maintain authentication APIs using: GitHub Microsoft Azure Quality Assurance Test Single Sign-On (SSO): Apple Sign In Google Sign In Facebook Login Support server-side and frontend authentication flows Work with OAuth, JWTs, tokens, sessions, and secure API access Develop and test GET and POST REST endpoints Secure APIs against malicious or invalid requests 3. iOS (Swift) Integration This intern must have working knowledge of Swift sufficient for integration and routing purposes. Responsibilities include: Handle deep link payloads from Branch.io Trigger navigation to specific in-app screens: Sponsor Bullseye! $29 Offer screen Process authentication and redirect callbacks Handle cold start vs warm start deep link behavior Coordinate backend redirect logic with in-app routing Debug deep linking on simulator and physical devices Note: This is not a full UI feature development role. The focus is backend-to-app communication, routing, and authentication integration. 4. Webhooks & Automation Monitor Pipedream.com to manage webhook-based workflows between: Storyblok GitHub Microsoft Azure Responsibilities include: Trigger deployments on GitHub commits or merges React to Storyblok publish/unpublish events Automate web publishing and rebuild workflows Secure webhook payloads with tokens and secrets Debug failed webhook executions Support static web hosting and environment separation (dev / staging / prod) 5. Deep Linking & Attribution Configure dynamic deep links using Branch.io Implement: Deferred deep linking App install attribution Web-to-app routing Align redirects with authentication flows and sponsor discovery Debug redirect loops and attribution mismatches Required Skills Coursework or experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering Strong understanding of REST APIs Knowledge of OAuth and token-based authentication Comfortable with GET and POST API design Working knowledge of Swift (iOS) for routing and authentication integration Familiarity with Nuxt3 or modern JavaScript frameworks Basic experience with Azure Cloud Experience using GitHub Strong debugging and systems-thinking mindset Nice-to-Have Experience with JWT authentication Familiarity with event-driven architecture Experience debugging deep links Experience with mobile SaaS products Exposure to API testing tools (Postman, etc.) What You’ll Gain Real-world production API experience DevOps automation experience Mobile deep linking and attribution architecture exposure Cloud deployment experience Portfolio-ready backend and mobile integration work Startup-level ownership and technical decision-making exposure Commitment 2 hours per day.
