We are looking for an experienced Data Analytics Engineer who can bridge the gap between business insight and technical execution. This role is ideal for someone who understands retail and Family Entertainment Center (FEC) operations and can independently source, transform, and analyze data to deliver actionable insights. This is a 1099 opportunity with an expected 10-15 hours of work a week. Only individuals with experience working with data in family entertainment, food service, hospitality, retail or closely related industry will be considered. You will work closely with business leaders and operational teams to understand questions, dig into raw data across multiple systems, and produce clean, well-structured datasets, dashboards, and analyses that support decision-making. This is an end-to-end analytics role—from understanding the business problem to pulling the data and delivering insights. Key Responsibilities • Partner with business stakeholders to understand and clarify analytical needs, operational questions, and performance drivers • Independently source data from transactional systems, data warehouses, POS platforms, and other internal/external sources • Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, join, and transform data • Design and maintain analytics-ready datasets that support reporting and ad-hoc analysis • Develop clear, accurate dashboards, reports, and metrics used by leadership and operations teams • Analyze retail and FEC performance including revenue, attendance, labor, promotions, loyalty programs, and unit economics • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within data and communicate findings in business-friendly language • Ensure data quality, consistency, and metric definitions across reporting • Document data models, assumptions, and definitions to support transparency and reuse • Proactively identify gaps in data, reporting, or processes and recommend improvements Required Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in analytics, data analysis, or business intelligence roles • Strong proficiency in SQL (ability to work directly with raw, messy data) • Experience owning analytics work end-to-end (not just consuming prepared datasets) • Hands-on experience supporting Retail environments (POS, transactions, inventory, promotions, customer behavior) • Experience working with Family Entertainment Centers (FECs), food and beverage, retial or similar multi-location, high-volume consumer environments (e.g., arcades, attractions, hospitality, leisure) • Experience working with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar • Strong understanding of business metrics and KPIs • Ability to translate business questions into data requirements and actionable insights • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Qualifications • Experience with data modeling (facts/dimensions, metric definitions) • Familiarity with ELT/analytics engineering tools (e.g., dbt, Python) • Experience integrating data from multiple source systems (POS, CRM, ticketing, loyalty, labor systems) • Experience supporting multi-location or franchise-style operations • Background working closely with operations, finance, or executive leadership teams What Success Looks Like • Business leaders trust the data and insights you deliver • You can answer “why” questions, not just report numbers • Stakeholders don’t need to go elsewhere to get data—you own it • Metrics are clearly defined, consistent, and actionable • Insights lead to better operational and financial decisions
