Job Responsibilities
Base Pay Adjustments Plus Incentives
Agency Search Team
  • $55,575 - $56,618
  • The salary amounts provided represent the minimum and maximum ranges based on years of current agency service plus incentive structures at SCDC. It is important to note that not all individuals may qualify for the highest tier of base pay adjustments and incentives.
  • Conduct routine, unannounced, and/or pre-scheduled searches and shakedowns of inmates, staff, and visitors within the confines of correctional institution living areas or grounds.
  • Assist the Lieutenant and above in administering the operation of the Agency Search Team.
  • Be knowledgeable of the logging and accountability process of contraband items, i.e. chain of custody and disciplinary procedures.
  • Ensure that on a weekly basis, completed leave and attendance is submitted.
  • Be available for recall in emergency and non-emergency situations that require additional personnel.
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule in order to work various time frames.
  • Remain thoroughly familiar with all policies governing contraband control, searches, property, visitation, etc.
  • Perform job related duties as directed by your supervisor.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • 18 and over.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Tattoos: Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must pass a medical assessment administered by SCDC.
  • Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within six (6) months of placement into the position.
