Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Content & Storytelling
  • Draft a wide range of communications materials, including press releases, media strategies, pitches, social content, and coverage reports.
  • Earned Media
  • Aid the development and execution of earned media strategies that support corporate initiatives and property news.
  • Support media outreach initiatives, including researching reporters, developing targeted media lists, and conducting outreach.
  • Track media coverage, impressions, sentiment, and key takeaways to translate into clear reports for executive leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with national sports, business, advertising, and marketing media, as well as relevant local outlets.
  • Build strong working relationships with Athletic Department, NGB, brand, and agency stakeholders to identify and execute communications opportunities.
  • Social Media
  • Support the development and execution of social content tied to corporate initiatives, partnerships, events, and industry moments.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably at an agency or fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Experience in sports, advertising, marketing, or brand communications is preferred, but not required.
  • Interest in and working knowledge of college athletics and the broader sports business landscape.
  • Client-service mindset and ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and channels.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in sports, advertising, marketing, or brand communications is preferred, but not required.
