Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Communications and Engagement in implementing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies.
  • Assist with strategic campaign planning and help ensure alignment between internal priorities and external messaging.
  • Uphold and apply brand standards across all materials, platforms, and communications.
  • Help translate organizational goals and program initiatives into clear, compelling marketing materials and communication assets.
  • Support internal communication efforts to keep staff, board members, and stakeholders informed and aligned.
  • Coordinate and draft external communications, including newsletters, website content, social media posts, press releases, and public announcements.
  • Review marketing and communications materials prior to release to ensure consistency with brand standards and organizational messaging.
  • Create and coordinate the development of internal and external marketing materials, including:
  • - Flyers and promotional materials
  • - Event collateral

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience or a strong portfolio in communications, content development, graphic design, and tactical marketing.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and developing engaging content that supports organizational goals.
  • Experience with digital marketing tools, email marketing platforms, website content management systems, and performance analytics.
  • Proficiency with design and content-creation tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, community members, partners, vendors, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven marketing and communications preferred.

  • Experience in nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven marketing and communications preferred.
  • Knowledge of Northwest Dayton or experience communicating with diverse communities is preferred.
  • Photography, videography, or basic video-editing experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence and emerging digital tools, including their responsible use to support content development, communications, and workflow efficiency.
