The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 150+ elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. The Communications Coordinator supports and assists the pastor, the pastoral staff and school staff in developing and organizing the internal and external parish mission-based communications.  This would include ensuring that all content and communication processes are consistent with the parish’s mission, goals and values and are executed in compliance with the parish and Archdiocese policies and procedures.  This position reports to the pastor but partnering with the pastoral and school staff is essential to the role.  

 Responsibilities

  • Foster a climate of teamwork and efficiency with the pastor and the parish and school staff 
  • Responsible for creating, updating, scheduling and maintaining the appearance of the parish website and social media channels 
  • Collaborate with the Development Director to ensure donor acknowledgements and stewardship communications and impact reporting are completed in a timely manner 
  • Coordinate and partner with the parish and school staff to promote the parish mission and vision 
  • Responsible for maintaining parish databases 
  • Evaluates and approves posts made to all parish and school media channels in accordance with parish and Archdiocese processes and procedures 
  • Designs, creates and distributes periodic messaging (bulletins, e-blasts, social media post, etc.) to the parish and school community 
  • Creatively utilizes social media platforms to promote parish and school life and opportunities to expand the parish and wider communities’ discipleship with Jesus Christ 
  • Controls parish media platform accounts including approved users and security 
  • Attends parish and school events, liturgies and ministry activities to take photographs and videos for sharing with the parish and wider community 
  • Consults with pastor on communication related issues 
  • Attends Archdiocese provided and other professional training forums to enhance and improve parish communications 
  • Pursues opportunities for personal, professional and spiritual growth 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements  

  • Passionate disciple of Jesus Christ who is a practicing Catholic 
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications 
  • Excellent team building skills 
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and completeness 
  • Proficiency in various technology platforms such Push Pay, Canva, etc. is a plus 
  • Understands, respects and supports the Catholic Church’s teachings, mission and values 
  • Adaptable to a changing work environment and priorities

This position has an annualized salary range of - $55,000 - $60,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
