Job Description

Position Overview 

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is looking for a highly organized Communications Coordinator to help keep our Communications team running smoothly. From coordinating department projects and supporting communications campaigns to assisting with events and donor experiences, this role helps ensure work moves forward efficiently and consistently. 

You'll serve as the operational hub of the department, keeping projects organized, deadlines on track, and colleagues connected. Working closely with teammates across Communications and partners throughout Federation, you'll help turn ideas into well-executed communications, events, and experiences. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, thrives on organization, and takes pride in helping a team succeed. 

Key Responsibilities 

Support the Department 

  • Coordinate department meetings, schedules, calendars, and planning activities 
  • Prepare agendas, meeting materials, notes, and follow-up items 
  • Maintain project trackers, timelines, planning materials, templates, and shared resources 
  • Help keep projects organized, deadlines visible, and priorities moving forward 
  • Coordinate communications projects across campaigns, email, web, content, and organizational initiatives 
  • Track deliverables and help ensure materials move smoothly through the appropriate review and production process 
  • Prepare, proofread, and format communications materials, presentations, and planning documents 

Support Events 

  • Assist with planning and execution of Federation events and donor experiences 
  • Coordinate event materials, logistics, vendors, planning documents, and other operational details 
  • Provide on-site event support, including setup, registration, guest support, and breakdown 
  • Help identify and resolve planning gaps before events occur 

Collaborate Across the Organization 

  • Partner with colleagues across Communications, Development, and other departments to coordinate projects and information 
  • Build strong working relationships with vendors, venues, and external partners 
  • Help ensure stakeholders have the information, materials, and support they need to keep projects and events moving successfully 

Success Looks Like 

  • The Communications team operates efficiently because projects, priorities, and information are well organized and easy to manage 
  • Communications materials, events, and donor experiences are consistently prepared ahead of deadlines, with minimal last-minute issues 
  • Colleagues and partners have confidence that they know what is needed, when it is needed, and where projects stand 
  • Communications and event operations are consistent, organized, and aligned with Federation's standards for quality and professionalism 

Qualifications 

  • 1–3 years of experience in communications, project coordination, event support, or a related field 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, and project management tools such as ClickUp 
  • Sound judgment, adaptability, and a solutions-oriented approach in fast-paced or changing environments 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to anticipate needs and manage multiple competing priorities 
  • Familiarity with Jewish customs, traditions, and community life, or a willingness to learn, is preferred
