  • Events and Promotion: Lead event planning, vendor coordination, promotions, and post-event reporting for 1–2 events per semester.
  • Content Operations: Manage SEAREG materials and website, mailing lists, and cross-team promotion with Sanford administration.

Job Description

Responsibilities - WFPC Communications and Events: Manage the WFPC’s website and events and help publicize center activities to wider audiences. - Website Maintenance: Review the WFPC’s current website and devise strategies to highlight recent center activities to the public. - Narratives and Publications: Generate narratives or articles to capture project activities; develop and disseminate WFPC newsletters; post journal papers, news mentions, podcasts, videos/webinars; maintain course listings and staff/student profiles. - Outreach and Promotion: Generate ideas to publicize WFPC work on campus and externally; promote events through Sanford and Duke channels; design promotional graphics with Canva for social media and outreach materials. - Events Planning and Staffing: Plan and staff events, including scheduling meetings, coordinating with vendors, managing mailing lists, space and catering logistics, videography/photography, post-event social content, and summary reports. - Internship Coordination: Work with the Associate Director to maintain the list of student internships. - Writing and Editing Support: Support regular WFPC outputs such as reports, summary memos, and presentations. - Sanford Administrative Support: Provide Sanford administrative support. - SEAREG: Track project info and generate written materials and social media content; manage the group website, calls for papers, news releases, and mailing lists. - Other Responsibilities: Perform other related duties as needed. Requirements - Four years of clerical or research experience to acquire strong skills in administrative or project research responsibilities as well as accepted office management, communications and research practices. - A bachelor's degree in a field of study directly related to the specific position may be substituted for the education and two years of the experience requirement. - OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE - The ideal candidate would have a 4-year degree in communications, graphic design, political science, marketing, or related social sciences. Nice to Have - 1-2 years of professional communications experience, including maintaining websites. - Familiarity with public policy and food system issues would be considered an asset.
