Job Summary

Own executive communications and media relations at GEHA, shaping external and internal messaging while counseling the C-suite. Drive content quality and channel management across web, intranet, and social media, and lead crisis/issues management as needed.

  • Communications Strategy & Counsel: Manage executive messaging, PR programs, and collaboration with Marketing and HR.
  • Content & Channel Ownership: Oversee internal/external collateral, web copy, and digital channels; ensure consistent GEHA representation.
  • Measurement & Events: Track PR impact and participate in conferences to advance the organization 0s communications goals.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Communications Manager is responsible for the execution of external and internal communications programs and projects including public relations, digital communications, HR and business unit communications counsel, and promotion of G.E.H.A’s community investment strategy.
  • Establish processes and standards for execution and set the bar for quality content that represents G.E.H.A well to both internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Communications team as well as team members from other support functions like Marketing and HR.
  • Provide counsel to C-suite executives on a regular basis.
  • Participate in relevant communications/media events and conferences as assigned.
  • Assist with implementation of crisis communications and issues management plans as needed, including management of issue-based position statements as directed by executive management.
  • Manage communication channels (web, intranet, social media) and other duties as assigned.
  • Other duties include providing strategic counsel to executives and business partners, and supporting events and programs to maximize employee engagement.
  • Develop content for range of materials such as internal communications collateral, white papers or perspectives, web copy, presentations, annual report, etc.
  • Demonstrate ability to conduct research, evaluation and background development for external communications programs effectiveness and report PR metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field required
  • 8+ years' experience in corporate communication department, PR firm environment, or related field required

Preferred

  • Preferred experience in healthcare communications environment
