Job Summary

Own support for team communications and media operations across game nights, press handling, and media outreach, with strong emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and fast turnaround.

  • Media relations support: assist with credentials, press content, transcripts, and press conference setup.
  • Game-night operations: assist with media materials, notes, hospitality, and attendance at practices to handle interview requests.
  • Content and archives: update media site daily, archive pitches, transcribe quotes, and support postgame events.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assist Timberwolves Basketball Communications staff in all facets of the team’s communications efforts.
  • Assist with media monitoring to track and evaluate the team’s media coverage through its media monitoring system.
  • Assist the department with game notes, visiting media packets, gameday statistical materials, gameday media hospitality and gameday media operations.
  • Occasionally assist with department publications such as press releases, advisories and other written materials.
  • Update and manage the Timberwolves media website on a daily basis.
  • Assist with creating and providing media with credentials, as well as providing media and teams with statistical and press content.
  • Archive articles and completion of story pitches throughout the season.
  • Assist with any postgame events that may occur during Timberwolves home games.
  • Assist with press conferences, including setting up and welcoming media.
  • Transcribe quotes on game nights for media.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong basketball statistical knowledge required.
  • Computer skills required: experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe InDesign is preferred.
  • Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work well on a team and independently.
  • Ability to manage specific processes and tasks in the department under supervision.

Preferred

  • Experience: Communications background, including Public Relations, Journalism, and/or sports information/sports PR experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Adobe InDesign is preferred.
