Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Asst/Associate AD for External Engagement and Innovation, serve as primary media contact for assigned VMI teams.
  • Prepare press releases, game previews and game recaps
  • Input statistics for assigned home events
  • Assist in the publicity of all VMI varsity sports, including assistance with digital media and the VMI Ticket Office
  • Foster relationships with members of the media. Oversee media credentialing process for assigned home events.
  • Assist in the creation of social media content, including graphics, photos, and videos
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite products, specifically InDesign and Photoshop
  • Coordinate and publish written and photographic content for the University’s official athletics website and official social media platforms
  • Assist in the planning of media events, such as news conferences, photo shoots and interviews for assigned sports

Requirements

  • Relevant undergraduate experience in the field of professional or collegiate athletic communications required.
  • Must have an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Desktop Publishing, NCAA Live Stats scoring software and social media management preferred but not required.
