The Assistant Director of Paid Search is responsible for Paid Search strategy and execution across a larger portfolio of key Carnegie clients, ensuring campaigns are aligned with client goals and optimized for success. This role works closely with the Directors and Senior Director to uphold best practices, contribute to training and innovation, and help move the Paid Search discipline forward, without managing direct reports.
This position can be an individual contributor position or a people manager position.
The people manager position would be responsible for leading Paid Search strategy for a smaller portfolio of key Carnegie clients while managing 1–2 team members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Campaign Management and Reporting
    • Lead end-to-end Paid Search strategy for medium-priority accounts.
    • Partner with Digital Strategists on proposals, RFPs, and strategic pivots.
    • Use tools such as Clarity, GA4, and dashboards to optimize campaign performance.
    • Participate in ad-hoc client calls as needed.
  • Mentorship
    • Serve as a subject-matter expert to guide Associates and Specialists in campaign setup, keyword strategy, and optimization best practices.
    • Contribute to team training materials and thought leadership initiative
  • Internal Team
    • Work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Demonstrate thought leadership by keeping pace with Paid Search industry trends as well as bring forward ideas around process improvements, best practices, and tests
  • For People Manager Track Specifically
    • Team Leadership & Development
      • Manage and coach 1-2 Paid Search employees on campaign strategy, setup, and optimization.
      • Lead training sessions, onboarding, and professional development for direct reports.
      • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
      • Support hiring and workflow planning for the team.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to effectively multitask in a deadline-driven atmosphere.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills through independent troubleshooting of issues before escalating to other team members
  • Quick learner and ability to adapt to new and changing technologies
  • Clear written communication skills, both internally and externally
  • Passion, energy, and enthusiasm for digital marketing and client success
  • Due to the remote environment, effective communication and time management skills are required, as well as the ability to use/learn multiple technology platforms and switch between them on a regular basis
  • Physical requirement: Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods
Credentials and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Marketing/Advertising major or concentration is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience working in Paid Search in the Google Ads platform; lead generation is a plus
  • Data analysis experience, particularly experience in analyzing digital campaign metrics to measure success
  • Experience with employee management is preferred
  • Experience with Asana or other project management tools and Google-based products (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) is a plus
  • Currently certified in Google Ads Paid Search is a plus
