Job Summary

Own athletics communications by leading storytelling and day-to-day operations, partnering with marketing to elevate Marian Athletics, and supervising staff to enhance student-athlete engagement through strategic content.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead athletic communications and storytelling initiatives.
  • Report directly to the Director of Athletics, and work in partnership with athletics marketing to elevate the visibility and brand of Marian Athletics.
  • Oversee day-to-day athletic communications operations.
  • Supervise the Sports Information Specialist.
  • Develop strategic communication efforts that enhance engagement, promote Marian Athletics, and strengthen the student-athlete experience through effective storytelling and communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, targeting majors in communications, journalism, sports management, and sports marketing
  • Demonstrated success in collegiate athletic communications, sports information, sports marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising staff and managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard platforms and tools (e.g., Stat Crew/PrestoStats/Genius, Adobe Creative Suite, web CMS, and live streaming technologies).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of emerging trends in digital media, social media strategy, and content creation within collegiate athletics.
  • Ability to manage budgets and operate effectively within institutional resources.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
