Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Manages and promotes the Kansas Tourism Signage and Agritourism Programs by serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, businesses, and partners statewide. Oversees signage application review, program compliance, coordination with state agencies and contractors, and maintenance of program resources. Supports the growth of agritourism by recruiting and assisting businesses, managing program records and listings, and developing educational and outreach opportunities. Delivers presentations, training, and technical assistance to industry partners while promoting best practices and enhancing visitor experiences across Kansas.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Kansas Tourism Signage Program.
  • Maintain and update signage program information, application materials, and guidance on the Kansas Tourism website and related marketing resources.
  • Assist tourism businesses and attractions throughout the signage application process, providing guidance on requirements and procedures
  • Review Attraction Signage applications to ensure compliance with program regulations, eligibility requirements, and state guidelines
  • Coordinate with the Kansas Department of Transportation and third-party signage contractors regarding application approvals, sign production, and installation
  • Oversee the administration and promotion of the Kansas Agritourism Program and serve as the primary point of contact for agritourism businesses across the state.
  • Maintain and update the Kansas Agritourism business development manual and resources that guide businesses in starting an agritourism operation in Kansas.
  • Conduct site visits to agritourism businesses as needed.
  • Maintain and update agritourism listings within Kansas Tourism customer management platform and on TravelKS.com.
  • Collaborate with the Kansas Tourism team to develop and implement marketing initiatives that promote agritourism businesses through publications, websites, social media, and other promotional channels.
  • Coordinate with the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Kansas Department of Revenue, and other state agencies on the education, development, promotion, and reporting of agritourism businesses.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four years of experience in tourism, agriculture, business, marketing, or a related field.
    Knowledge of the agritourism industry and its role in supporting local economies and rural communities.
    Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel independently are required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
