Job Summary

Own multi-program institutional communications, shaping strategy and storytelling across Athletics, arts, and signature programs while coordinating with department leaders and a marketing team to drive visibility and impact.

  • Strategic Communications: plan and implement cross-platform messaging with clear goals, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Narrative Development: craft feature stories, announcements, talking points, and campaign messaging that highlight student achievement and program innovation.
  • Project and Performance: manage initiatives from concept to evaluation, monitor engagement, and align with school-wide priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies to elevate the visibility and reputation of Athletics, Integration, Performing Arts & Signature Programs
  • Partner with department leaders to identify key narratives, milestones, achievements, and community stories.
  • Plan and implement coordinated messaging across website, social media, email, print, and other platforms.
  • Ensure consistent brand standards and high-quality storytelling across all collateral.
  • Lead communications planning and implementation for major institutional initiatives as assigned.
  • Develop messaging frameworks and project plans that align with broader School strategy.
  • Coordinate with the Creative Director and marketing team on design, digital content, and campaign execution.
  • Establish timelines, benchmarks, and metrics to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Produce compelling written and digital content including feature stories, announcements, talking points, website copy, and campaign messaging.
  • Identify and cultivate storytelling opportunities that highlight student achievement, faculty excellence, and program innovation.
  • Ensure consistent voice and messaging across all platforms.
  • Support photography, videography, and multimedia storytelling efforts.
  • Develop and implement communications plans with clear goals, deliverables, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Serve as project manager for assigned communications initiatives from conception through execution and evaluation.
  • Monitor engagement data and provide analysis and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with External Relations leadership to ensure strategic alignment across departments.
  • Support school-wide priorities and emerging initiatives requiring coordinated communications leadership.
  • Contribute to integrated marketing campaigns and institutional storytelling efforts.
Requirements
  • Commitment to Milken’s mission and core values.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 4–7 years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse constituencies.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of initiative and follow-through.
  • Experience working in CMS, Social Media platforms, Adobe or Canva, and CRM/Database systems required.
  • Flexible, highly detail oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
