Job Summary

Own media relations and brand storytelling with crisis prep, executive visibility, and cross‑functional messaging across platforms to protect and grow reputation.

  • Define and execute PR plans that connect executives, media, and influencers to business goals.
  • Monitor coverage, quantify impact, and report insights to steer strategy and risk mitigation.
  • Align internal and external messaging across marketing, comms, and leadership for a cohesive brand voice.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive brand communication and public relations strategies aligned with company goals and objectives.
  • Manage all aspects of media relations, including proactive outreach, press release development, media kit creation, and crisis communications.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, industry influencers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of compelling content for various channels, including press releases, media pitches, corporate messaging, and internal communications.
  • Monitor media coverage, analyze PR campaign effectiveness, and provide regular reports on key metrics and insights.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, executive leadership, and other departments to ensure consistent brand messaging and integrated communication efforts.
  • Manage external PR agencies and consultants, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and effective resource utilization.
  • Identify and mitigate potential reputational risks through proactive planning and rapid response strategies.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, competitive landscape, and best practices in brand communications and public relations.
  • Support executive visibility initiatives, including media training and speaking engagements.

Requirements

  • NYC based candidates ONLY
  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field
  • 10+ years recommended in a communications/public relations field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong editing ability. Experience with crisis communications a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and the flexibility to managing multiple projects with competing priorities and shifting timeframes, with the capacity to prioritize and operate with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with PC software tools for communications, presentations and reports, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of the design and layout of communications materials

Preferred

  • Experience with crisis communications a plus.
