Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Social Media Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement channel-specific strategies and provide recommendations that support university marketing, enrollment, and brand objectives.
  • Content Development and Publishing: Collaborate with creative, digital, and campus partners to plan, create, and distribute engaging, platform-appropriate content that reflects the university brand and resonates with target audiences.
  • Community Engagement and Reputation Management: Manage university social media channels by fostering meaningful engagement, responding to inquiries, monitoring conversations, and building relationships with prospective students, current students, alumni, and external audiences.
  • Campaign and Advertising Management: Plan, execute, and optimize organic and paid social media campaigns, including audience targeting, budget management, A/B testing, and performance evaluation to support awareness, recruitment, and enrollment goals.
  • Analytics, Reporting, and Optimization: Monitor social media performance metrics, analyze campaign effectiveness, and provide regular reports and recommendations to improve engagement, reach, conversion, and overall impact.
  • Brand Governance and Digital Innovation: Support brand consistency and compliance across university social media accounts through oversight, training, and account audits while identifying emerging trends, platform updates, and innovative engagement opportunities.
  • Student Supervision: Recruit, supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to student employees and content contributors.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience managing and/or utilizing social media platforms as part of a professional role, including content creation, engagement, analytics, or outreach activities.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in social media, marketing, communications, or related field
  • Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital media, communication, or journalism
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with an integrated marketing and communications team and/or within a higher education environment.
  • Experience using Meta Business Suite for social media management and analytics.
  • Professional certification in social media marketing (e.g., Meta Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate, HubSpot Academy Social Media Marketing Certification, Hootsuite Social Marketing Certification, or equivalent).
