Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Communication and Outreach Division Director is an in-person position responsible for the development and implementation of internal and external communications strategies that advance the Michigan State Police (MSP) mission and enhance public and employee perspectives of the department.
  • This position serves as an effective spokesperson, writer, and strategist, while leading the MSP’s communications across a full range of modern media, in innovative and effective ways.
  • This position confirms MSP’s commitment to communicating with internal and external stakeholders with transparency, courtesy, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.
  • Experience: Senior Policy Executive 18 Two years of professional experience as a manager or program/staff specialist or equivalent experience.
  • Alternate Education and Experience: Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement supervisory experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
  • This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
