Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Develop video, photo, and written content for social media, websites, newsletters, press releases, promotional materials, and other district communications.
  • Social Media & Communications: Manage district social media channels, create and schedule content, monitor engagement, and support communication plans that advance district initiatives.
  • Digital Media Management: Capture, edit, organize, and maintain photo and video assets, ensuring content aligns with district brand standards and is securely archived.
  • Event Coverage: Provide communications support for district events through planning, photography, videography, and promotional content, including occasional early morning, evening, or weekend assignments.
  • Technology & Professional Knowledge: Utilize district communication platforms and design tools, including ParentSquare, Finalsite, Canva, Google Workspace, and other technologies, while staying informed on district initiatives, communication trends, and best practices.
  • Crisis Communications: Assist with timely communications during emergencies or sensitive situations, including website updates, parent notifications, and other district messaging.
  • Media & Community Relations: Support media outreach, monitor media coverage, maintain media contact lists, and communicate professionally with stakeholders, community partners, and news media as directed.
  • Administrative & Operational Support: Provide general administrative support to the Public Relations Department, including scheduling, correspondence, maintaining records, conducting research, and assisting with departmental projects and daily operations.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in journalism or its equivalent required
  • Experience in journalism, marketing, public relations, or similar field required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong technology skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva
  • Proven track record managing multiple projects on deadline
  • Ability to shoot and edit video, as well as still photography

Preferred

  • Experience in all social media platforms and analytics preferred, as well as website management
