Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive public relations strategies that align with the organisation's goals.
  • Write and distribute compelling content, including press releases, articles, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media representatives, community leaders, and partner organisations.
  • Manage the organisation's social media channels, creating engaging content to grow our audience and raise awareness of our programmes.
  • Organise and oversee promotional events, press conferences, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Monitor all media coverage and public discourse related to the organisation, providing timely reports and analysis to senior leadership.
  • Act as a media spokesperson for the organisation, effectively communicating our mission and values.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and campaigns.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials, such as brochures, annual reports, and presentations.

Requirements

  • Proven professional experience as a Public Relations Specialist, Communications Officer, or a similar role.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrable experience in media relations and building professional networks.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and digital communication tools for professional purposes.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A genuine passion for social justice and a commitment to the empowerment of underserved communities.
  • Experience working within the non-profit sector would be a significant advantage.

Preferred

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a relevant field is highly desirable.
