Job Summary

Shape and lead media relations by crafting strategic PR programs, building executive editor relationships, and guiding messaging to drive national coverage and timely activations.

  • Relationships & Real-time Response: Maintain editor connections, coordinate rapid-response coverage, and staff interviews.
  • Client & Team Enablement: Oversee client communications and reporting while mentoring juniors and enabling efficient research with AI tools.

Job Description

Own media relations and client stewardship by shaping strategic PR programs, building editor relationships, and guiding executive messaging to secure national coverage and timely opportunities.

  • Media Strategy & Leadership: Pitch and secure feature stories, craft strategic releases, and identify activations aligned to brand objectives.
  • Relationships & Real-time Response: Maintain daily contact with editors, organize rapid-response coverage, staff interviews, and ongoing media engagement.
  • Client & Team Enablement: Oversee client communications, reporting cadences, and develop junior staff while applying AI-assisted research.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop PR strategies and dynamic pitches to meet client objectives and tailor pitches to editors and media activations.
  • Strategic Leadership: Plan and execute strategies with little to no changes from the VP or Managing Director.
  • Strategic Leadership: Draft press releases as necessary to maintain strategic alignment.
  • Media Expertise: Pitch and secure coverage on national and regional levels across online, print, broadcast, Substack, and podcast media.
  • Media Expertise: Monitor for relevant newsjacking opportunities and organize the team to support in real time.
  • Media Expertise: Staff interviews for clients and founders.
  • Client Communications: Build strong relationships with clients and communicate regularly via email, phone, and in person.
  • Client Communications: Oversee and send monthly client reporting, weekly call agendas, and proactive updates about media activity.
  • Client Communications: Update all press-facing and client-facing written materials such as media briefs, face sheets, and collateral.
  • Team Management & Development: Manage and mentor junior staff to support growth and account excellence.
  • Team Management & Development: Leverage approved AI tools to streamline research and administrative workflows with data-privacy compliance and thorough human fact-checking.
  • Business Growth: Manage internal initiatives and activities, including company-wide pitching.
  • Business Growth: Brainstorm and present unique opportunities to elevate the firm’s profile within the industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6-7+ years of PR experience with significant agency experience
  • A strong editorial network of social impact and business editors and writers (specifically in women’s wellness and parent interest)
