Job Summary

Own and drive the Center’s external and internal communications by leading website management, content creation, and social media campaigns, while coordinating with IT and communications teams to expand reach, accessibility, and engagement across diverse audiences.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, develop and manage the LCH website as a dynamic tool to communicate to various stakeholders the activities and impacts of the Center
  • Create and develop content for LCH’s website, keeping it up-to-date with the most current statistics, reports, and pertinent news stories and publications, as well as measureables of its usage
  • Continue to develop and enhance the user experience of the website to increase targeted traffic
  • Make the website more accessible for Latinx communities (Spanish-speaking, etc.)
  • Work to create a library of community photos for the website and other communications
  • Post and share news stories and Latino health-related information on LCH’s social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • Respond to questions, comments, and messages that come up in LCH’s social media sites
  • Track social media traffic and engagement; identifying measures of success and providing quarterly reports
  • Develop a strategic plan for communications and social media campaigns within the first 4 months
  • Develop clear and appropriate messaging to different target audiences and stakeholders, including elected officials, leadership and students of the University of WA, community leaders and organizations across the state, and health officials, with the aim to increase followers and engagement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field
  • Two years of experience writing internal and external communications materials such as brochures, press releases, summary reports
  • Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager.
  • Intermediate experience using WordPress for website content development
  • Intermediate experience using Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for communications, outreach, and/or engagement purposes
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Intermediate experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Strong writing skills with ability to quickly craft news stories and summaries of the Center’s varied research and public activities.
  • Experience using graphic design tools for tasks including publication layouts.
  • Able to work independently to identify and solve problems

Preferred

  • Demonstrated commitment to health equity and/or promoting the health and wellbeing of Latinx communities
  • Experience engaging elected officials/policy makers and impacting health promoting policies
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Interest/experience in visual design, content layout
