Job Description

Directs the Division's Content & Creative Services to produce clear, accessible public information and oversee editorial standards.

  • Owns direction, staffing, and project workflows for content and outreach across internal and external audiences.
  • Directs, plans, and organizes all section activities, including recruiting, hiring, and staffing; develops management objectives, performance standards, and staff goals; and supervises the team through coaching, standards setting, and performance review.
  • Performs advanced, senior-level technical writing work and coordinates content for diverse audiences.
  • Preserves and oversees the Division’s editorial standards and ensures accessibility, readability, design, and quality across materials through review and approval processes.
  • Recommends messaging strategy and communication plans to achieve approvals within governance structures.
  • Uses clear and compelling communication across written and oral formats (e.g., video scripts, brochures, social posts, press releases).
  • Oversees creation and review of plain language publications, videos, flyers, infographics, SharePoint pages, and website updates.
  • Leads content intake, prioritization, project planning, and workflow design with approval checkpoints for readability and tone.
  • Oversees project execution and QA, and conducts post mortems to improve workflows and templates.
  • Assesses risk and media implications before responses by agency officials; maintains brand alignment per standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Five (5) years in business administration, communications and/or writing, government, nonprofit, or public administration; Master’s may substitute for two years.
  • Skill: Highly accurate grammar, punctuation, and writing; ability to tailor style to audience and adhere to formatting standards.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication
  • Skill in exercising sound judgment and decision making
  • Ability to receive and respond to constructive feedback
  • Ability to work with others in a professional office environment
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work in person at an assigned OAG work location and perform in-person collaboration

Preferred

  • Experience: Two (2) years of management experience
  • Knowledge of government operations
  • Knowledge of mass marketing and digital media design
  • Ability to review and edit content to ensure adherence to standards
  • Second language proficiency
