Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for enterprise-level media relations, with a specific geographical market assigned as primary.
  • Build extensive internal relationships with leaders and frontline staff in primary market to collaborate on emerging issues and uncover story opportunities.
  • Proactively identify and share compelling stories.
  • Partner closely with other communications team members to provide on-site support to elevate earned media opportunities in primary market, as needed.
  • Monitor and measure media coverage in Charlotte, NC market and make actionable recommendations to leadership that will improve outcomes of communications efforts.
  • Lead bodies of work that have impacts across the team or are more complex projects; act as a newsroom manager for one or more divisions of the organization.
  • Write external communications products for audience including media, social media copy, correspondence, speeches and remarks, op-eds and video scripts.
  • Design and develop communications plans to support organization and business goals.
  • Oversee and manage media monitoring and measurement; develop cadence of reporting and strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Collaborate with vendor partners for production of daily news clippings and measurement techniques; ensure continuity and quality.
  • Evaluate proposals from third parties requesting to make announcements using Advocate Health’s name or brands in public-facing content; make recommendations to leaders regarding participation.
  • Develop strategic annual media plans for primary geography; align projects with enterprise strategic plan.
  • Manage multiple projects independently; draft recommendations; customize outputs to audience.
  • Contribute to enterprise thought leadership efforts; identify and prepare subject matter experts for high-level events and opportunities.
  • Synthesize complex information into clear written material and briefing materials; produce presentations for enterprise-wide audiences.
  • Collaborate with teammates, senior staff and executives with discretion and diplomacy; deliver high-quality content on tight deadlines.
  • Liaise with event organizers to prepare briefing materials and shape events as needed.
  • Monitor health care industry trends; provide recommendations and reactive action plans as needed.
  • Monitor and provide executive summaries and reports of media related to customers, competitors and the industry.
  • Support external communications team with priority projects and tactics as needed; establish relationships with internal and external partners and vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing, journalism or other business-related field ; prior experience working with senior leaders highly desirable.
  • Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: None Required.

Preferred

  • Healthcare or healthcare adjacent experience
  • Bilingual Spanish
