Job Summary

Owns Stanford GSB’s media relations and rankings storytelling, turning complex data and faculty work into clear, high-impact narratives that shape reputation across press and institutional channels.

  • Media Relations: shape proactive outreach and journalist relationships across business, education, and national outlets.
  • Rankings & Narrative: coordinate data, craft positioning, and align messaging for rankings milestones.
  • Cross-Functional Storytelling: translate faculty research and programs into audience-focused stories and interview-ready materials.

Job Description

  • Media Relations: Develop proactive media strategies and journalist relationships to elevate Stanford GSB’s institutional priorities across business, higher education, national, global, and digital outlets.
  • Rankings Coordination: Lead major business school rankings submissions, manage data and narratives, and shape messaging around rankings outcomes and institutional strengths.
  • Storytelling & Content: Write and edit press materials, translate faculty research into audience-friendly stories, and prep leaders for interviews and public engagements.
  • Spokesperson & Outreach: Coordinate media outreach, interview prep, and press strategies with cross-functional teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with faculty, programs, institutional research, admissions, career management, and senior leadership to support positioning and communications initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience in media relations, public relations, or strategic communications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven success in developing and executing strategic media relations initiatives for complex organizations and senior leaders.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills with strong editorial judgment.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
  • Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative information into compelling institutional narratives.

Preferred

  • Experience leading or supporting rankings submissions, institutional reporting, or reputational initiatives.
  • Experience supporting reputation management or issues communications.
