Job Summary

Own and coordinate department content and social media delivery for UT Austin Theatre and Dance, driving audience-facing storytelling across print, digital, email, video, and web. Lead student workers and collaborative content workflows while upholding brand voice and editorial standards.

  • Content and Channel Ownership: Manage audience-centered content across print and digital, support email newsletters, and contribute to video and website improvements.
  • Social and Campaign Oversight: Oversee social channels, campaigns, and analytics to expand reach and engagement.
  • People and Operations: Hire and train student assistants, schedule shifts, manage timesheets, and maintain archives and digital signage.

Job Description

  • Content Creation and Management: Research, write, publish and monitor audience-centered content for print and digital channels, including website content and other communications collateral. Collect and compile information for playbills and communicate with playbill designer. Support the creation and distribution of email marketing and digital newsletters. Collaborate on video content creation. Work with the Communications Specialist and College of Fine Arts web team on departmental website improvements and upgrades. Work to ensure consistency of messaging and adherence to the brand voice and written style guide, while ensuring accuracy and appropriateness across all channels.
  • Social Media Content Coordination : Oversee the department’s social media channels. Support, create and deploy social media campaigns and advertising. Monitor and respond to online conversations and inquiries. Manage the department’s digital media content editorial calendar. Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies and applications on social media and look for ways to enhance and expand the department’s digital reach and audience engagement. Run analytic reports to assess success of digital marketing efforts (social media and website).
  • Student Employee Management: In collaboration with the Communications Specialist, post positions, interview and hire two to three student assistants for the department’s communications office. Train workers and ensure job duties are being completed. Schedule student workers' shifts. Timesheet management .
  • Administrative: Manage production and departmental historical archives. In collaboration with the Communications Specialist, administer the department’s digital signage, including managing content, posting/scheduling and developing templates for content. Support the Communications Specialist on projects that promote the department and expand audience awareness.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of experience in promotions, marketing, public relations or journalism
  • Experience in the use of social media platforms
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to synthesize complex concepts clearly and concisely and communicate effectively
  • Ability to discern and justify the appropriate messages for different lengths and formats
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Required Competencies: Accuracy and Attention to Detail, Decision Making and Critical Thinking, Effective Communication, Strong Writing Skills, Initiative, Problem Solving, and Service Excellence
  • More than one year of experience in promotions, marketing, public relations or journalism
  • Experience successfully managing, writing and/or creating content for social media channels and websites as a tool for message delivery and community engagement
  • Working experience with web content management systems, email marketing platforms, Adobe Creative Suite and general design principles
